Team Transplant St. Louis

June 28, 1996 - February 23, 2014

The meaning of Life is to find your Gift;
The purpose of Life is to GIVE IT AWAY

Dominic Hooper was 17 years old (4 months shy of 18) when he passed in February 2014.  He was a senior in high school, preparing for his graduation that May. Dominic (Dom) was very active in sports and enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball, dunk ball, disc golf, and weightlifting. Dominic loved life and lived each day to the fullest. He always went out of his way to make sure everyone he saw was happy and smiling. He had such an infectious, happy personality.  He knew no stranger and had a very special ability to make friends with everyone he met. Dominic was a wonderful, caring young man and a very driven person with a great sense of humor. His compassion for others was astonishing and his kind, selfless, and generous heart was unending. Dom has touched the lives of so many people from many different places and has continued to do so even after his untimely death.  Through organ donation, Dominic became a hero to 5 individuals who were waiting for a transplant.

In life, Dominic never gave up, and always strived to be the best he could be.  He overcame many obstacles through the years and he became a stronger person with each challenge.  We are very proud of our son.  He has taught us to keep going, even though I want to quit.  Our hope is that we all will continue to strive to be our best, just as Dom always did and, through it all, we never give up.

“The meaning of life is to find your gift; the purpose of life is to give it away.”  May the gifts Dominic has selflessly given to 5 others, inspire you to give your gifts as well.
